Doesn't look like it's cross threaded, screws in fine, but I'm having trouble finding a picture of an O2 sensor for the 2012 WG, but it appears the nut on the sensor is wider on the oem and not on mine.

So it screws right though the bung

They should have a washer similar to a spark plug. I bought a bag of 10.

Sounds like 12MM sensors were installed in place of 18MMs, Al. I don't know much more about them than that.

If it was missing the crush washer it wood only be finger tite. I think that's the issue.
