"Denver Mayor Michael Hancock subsequently blamed marijuana for an increase in “urban travelers” to the area, calling them a “scourge of hoodlums.” He previously said there were about 150 urban travelers hanging out at Commons and Confluence parks.

Police Chief Robert White urged downtown pot shops to stop selling single joints as one way to reduce violence. The Downtown Denver Partnership also has been beefing up security, including hiring new private security guards. Denver police have increased foot patrols as well."
