TOAK- Thread Of All Knowledge- Part VI
I musta slept through that one.......
70 in Missouri on the way out. The wind was whippin' and right in my face a lot of the time. Made for some terrible gas mileage. It was at this particular spot that I did something really dumb. The wind was probably 30 mph at least at this point I had been passing campers that were damn near riding on one wheel.
I opened my tour pack. Inside on the top of the bag was my road atlas and all the **** I had printed out about the hotels and such was stuffed in it.
It was like, *POOF!* and all of a sudden all the aforementioned item went skittering down the on ramp and my gimpy *** right after it. It was spitting the rain and all of it was ink jet stuff...

This is the same storm I had been watching for about 20 miles at this point. I had been lucky and missed the majority of rain. Although I did ride on some wet roads and ran into a few drops, it wasn't enough to stop and suit up for.
I thought this one was moving south and was going to miss it too but about 50 miles from my first night's stop, it turned and I got soaked.
The good thing about riding in Kansas and MO in stormy weather is that you can actually see the storms a LONG way off. The bad thing is there is no place to go if one has your number!

Sprayed it off about a week before I left and she still looked pretty good from a distance at that point Stan. I took a pic of her when I got back but I'm afraid Denny and Chuck couldn't handle it!
It seemed like butterflies were particularly attracted to my windshield at on point as I collected three in my travels. Fortunately the torrential down pour outside Louisville washed most of it off.
I was sitting here thinking and just had another "Duh" moment.
I hadn't given much thought to going as the miles were just a bit to many for me, maybe more than a bit.
But I did just remember I have a trailer the two ATV's are sitting on and that would haul one Harley easily.
Better luck next time I'm hoping.
I think any trip you can get there, have fun and get home with no permanent injuries or jail time is probably a great trip, and it sounds like that's what you guys had, kudo's to ya all.
fwiw I'm not a fan of Gaga, but heard her sing on TV with Tony Bennett and have to admit, seems to have a hell of a voice when she wants to.
Trying to put some miles on the new Ultimate seat and different back rest, but temps close to 90 are licking my a$$, old age kicking in again.
