Was in Edmonton 2 weeks ago and bought the HD oil filter catch can thing. Was all excited to use it. Get it all ready, put it under the filter and away I go taking the filter off slowly so it would drain into the tube and then into a can. I'm sure it would work perfect if you were using the jiffy stand so the bike leans that way. But being in a wheel chock, poured down the back side of the orange catch can...

Hahaha! Sorry, I couldn't resist. I have messed with ideas since I've owned mine and like I said, I just gave up.
Anything short of filter relocation is an effort in frustration.

ooohh...I never thought of a drain hole in the trough. I cut the one end so it goes up behind the filter mount and kept a lip on the other end so the oil would just pool in the trough. I do mine on a 1500lb ATV/motorcycle lift, lots of room for a catch can underneath.

Afternoon Woods! Back from the American Ninja Warrior expo and then a trip to Walmart. Damn, I hate that place but it is a necessary evil sometimes

The HD one has a lip on the back side as well.

they buy in such massive bulk quantities it's pretty much impossible for anyone to sell name brand stuff any cheaper.

there are standing orders in my household to not purchase any meat or poutry from walmart. seen too many damning documentaries on their grocery dept

Walmart in a small town, the place where you see and know everyone. Its like visiting all your friends at once.
