TOAK- Thread Of All Knowledge- Part VI
I took a lot of pics. such beautiful unspoiled country up there, had a great trip.
loaded and ready to leave home. had a sign I had stolen in my youth and strapped it on the back of the bike to put up in Watson Lake, home of the sign forest.
met up with 5 other friends and headed up the Alaska highway. two of them were pulling tent trailers, they are a cool deal but they sure used a lot more fuel overall.

I highly recommend the trip. I know you would love it, very rich in history and so much to see.
I was somewhat surprised to see how many people would just come up to us and strike up a conversation about our Harleys. several people including a few old time gold miners approached us about the bikes, and regaled us with their stories of their own bikes or others from their memories, as well as how they came to the Yukon to prospect for gold. two of them even pulled out the pokes to show us their most prized finds, it was amazing...and the most raw gold I've ever seen or held in my own hand. Gerald showed us his two huge nuggets adding up to 5 ounces, over $6000 worth of gold in my hand.

Dawson is an amazing place, a lot of the old buildings are still in use and the ones that aren't are in some sort of restoration. one of the downtown bars has the oldest liquor license in Canada dating back to the early 1900's, even before prohibition
