Scientific studies have shown that "Get-Back Whips" are 99% less effective than a hunting knife through the sidewall at a stoplight.

Lots of super tough guys on these forums that know what everybody should or should not be doing, wearing, saying, putting on their bikes... blah blah blah. Do whatever the hell you want. Wear what you want, put whatever the hell you want on your bike. I'll do the same.

I've seen them around for years all over the country. Never considered them any kind of "weapon" just a doodad that some folks like. Rank them in there with fringes on the levers, lights all over the bike, enough chrome to make Stevie Wonder see flashes, vests with 20 pounds of patches & pins,... Not things I'm interested in, but whatever floats your boat. It's your boat, so float on and enjoy life.

Ok, I must say I'm shocked. I see these whips every freakin' where. No joke. And not just club guys, but girls around here even ride with them. I was expecting at least a few of the people who fly them, would have responded to this thread. I know many have posted they rarely see them, but at least in Virginia and North Carolina, they are quite common.

And no, I don't own one, don't care for them, but couldn't care less about those folks that do.

I had to Google it to see what they were. I guess I am not cool in the Land of 10,000 lakes.

I had to look up to see what the hell they were - in all my years, never heard of them. Guess I haven't been hanging around the right crowd. I always give motorcycles a lot of room, but if some billy badass hit my Jeep with one of those, I'm pretty sure it would "startle" me into jerking the wheel in his direction.

Personally I think this would be more effective.

or this
