I guess I'm easily distracted, but why spurs, and why one in particular?

This past summer I was fueling up. A group of riders come into the gas station and all of them were sporting whips hanging from their bars. I asked one of the guys what was the purpose of this thing he had hanging from his brake lever. He smiled and said he used it to hang his gas cap from while filling up. Dang, I thought. I must look foolish with my gas cap sitting on top of the pump.

I can't answer that. But occasionally you will see someone wearing a single spur.
I've wondered if "left is right and right is wrong" like an earing.

Ya know, the original idea behind those things was "visibility",, to have something moving around in the wind so the motion would catch eye's of idiot cagers,,
The "get back" was about "get off my ***" - no tail gating.

I guess some moron decided it would make a great weapon to keep people at a distance,, it would look good swinging around,, but it ain't gonna work

Truth be told anymore it's just a symbol. Some for colors and some of things to remember. A leather or para cord brade isn't gunna do much. Now if is tailed with metal you are looking for some harassment from the popo. Not my thing but to each there own. Been seing plenty of bikes with cressent wrenches mounted to the bike. Plausible deniability.

Seems to me that the whip flailing around in the wind would actually be an added visual 'enhancement' for the cagers to notice that HEY there is a motorcycle in that lane and maybe I shouldn't swerve over and take them out?

but yeah, otherwise Im not rockin' the get back whip.

Kinda reminds me of the scene where the Big Arab is whipping his sword around and Indiana Jones simply pulls his side arm, takes deliberate aim, and pops him....Remember recruits,"Front Sights win Fights".

You see a lot of them around the Central Texas (Austin/San Antonio) area. It's all good!

My dad used to wear a spur on his left boot so he could work the shifter with his feet on his highway pegs. This spur was just a single metal post that stuck off the back off his boot, not the fancy wheel type cowboys wear.

Never seen the single spur thing. Around here if you only got one spur on it means ya fell off your horse an were too lazy to find the other one!
