So far it is. If you have ever read King's books you know he throws a lot of detail at his readers. In this one, the idea conceived in 1971 I believe, he took a lot of time to research the late 50's and 60's.
I am just 118 pages into this novel which is about 1050 in length (I am afraid to check what the actual last page is for fear of spoiling the story). I used to be able to read over 100 pages a day when I worked as a Rent-A-Cop years ago. I could devour Louis L'Amour books in day or two.

That's the way it was when we lived in Pueblo West back in the late 80's and early 90's. We lost 3 or 4 cats...never found the remains of most of them.

I hated reading when I was young. I got bad grades because I just wouldn't read. It was not until I was older and bored that I actually enjoyed it.
I find that movies rarely even come close to capturing the story told in a book, which we all know already. Guess that is why Penthouse Letters was so popular. Or so I was told!!!
