Considering we have only been taking records in the last 120 years, I don't think we have idea what is considered "normal".
Exactly. And 120 years is less than the beginning of a neural synapse to the beginning of the blink of an eye as far as the timeline of the earth is concerned although geological evidence can tell us a lot.
And the first 100 years of those records were kept using old mercury thermometers, and other unsophisticated tools. So today we measure in 0.001 and cry when the temps are up by a hundredth. Silly isn't it.
Also, and think about those, the same people who want us to believe in global warming (as a major item), are the same people who believe you can pick your gender. Just sayin.

True, geological evidence can tell us a lot. But how do we know it's interpreted properly? Even though we have "evidence", it's more of an idea of what went on, not what actually happened. Imo anyway.
