I've seen the Lights a couple times. Took the kids out away from the city one very early morning to watch the Leonid meteor shower when they were kids.

Meteor showers are pretty cool to watch. We usually throw a blanket on the grass and stare in the sky. Then fall asleep.

The Northern Lights are pretty cool where I'm at but is nothing compared to further North.

The moon was cool to look at but I prefer looking at Jupiter.

My last scope was an 18" Obsession Dobsonian, built by a friend of mine. It was totally motorized and digitized. You'd punch in what you want to observe and the servo motors would point it. I've been to Australia with him twice to observe the Southern skies about 250 miles NW of Sydney in the outback.
