TOAK- Thread Of All Knowledge- Part V
Evening Lou. She is doing OK. Thanks for asking. She went home this morning and said that there was just rain all of the way home. Mostly rain here too.
Lou, at 220 the oil is just gettin warmed up. One of the only vehicles you'll see where at that mileage it ain't squeakin, the power windows and locks still work. I've probably related this story but years ago we go to Toyoda City in Japan. (Toyoda is the name there). There's a building that looks a bit like a parking garage but is actually offices. We go in a ground floor door and there are hundreds of engineer types at computers. We ask the tour director what they're doing. This floor was the 'brakes' department. Amazing.
Were they all about the same discounts?
Glad to hear sand isn't too bad. Hope she has some relief from the pain.
As I recall, yes. Of course there are other plans with lesser discounts for suppliers, friends and family, etc. but the employee discounts are the deepest and ya get any current rebate offers/finance incentives as well. Makes for a hell of a final price.
One of the cooler features on the 4runner us to change brake pads you just have to pull 2 pins. No removing the caliper. Pretty cool! On fords I like that the oil and fuel filters are cartridges on top of the motor.
Yup. Walk into a dealership with A plan there is no discussion of pricing. It is set by head office. I think that the dealers got a 5% commission up here?
An interesting thing about Toyota oil delivery systems, Lou. We've all heard that 'clatter' at start up while the oil is going to the top, right? The Toyota system has a valve that closes when ya shut the engine off and it retains oil in the top end.
That sounds right, Mike. I think that is pretty close to what all the mfrs pay to their dealers on employee purchases.
Fellers, I am about 10 minutes away from a chick flick with Momma. Nothing promises a quicker and deeper mode of sleep than a chick flick! See ya in the morning.
