The wife took this picture of some cool clouds while we were driving through Idaho. They are called lenticular clouds and are stationary clouds that form in the troposphere at 12K-40K feet. Lenticular clouds form as stable moist air flows over a mountain or a range of mountains, if the temperature at the crest of the wave drops to the dew point, moisture in the air may condense to form lenticular clouds. As the moist air moves back down into the trough of the wave, the cloud may evaporate back into vapor.

Mornin, Woods, Woodettes and lurkers. Russ, no wonder some folks think they're seein' a UFO. Looking at right side of pic, with a little firewater in ya, would lead one to believe.

50* here Mick. Sitting in a long sleeve T Shirt. Going up to 55* and then start cooling down. It is a little bit warmer here by the lake and drops a couple of degrees as you go inland.
