It kinda is. Anyone who screws up bad enough to get fired from IBM is giving up a lot of perks. We all b1tch and moan about the red tape and other BS that occurs, but overall we are compensated well and have a lot of benefits that aren't exactly spelled out in our employment agreement. Work from home, no one checking our log in/out times, not tied to a phone all day like a help desk/call center gig. Boss has even told us to go home early on the day before a holiday a time or 2.

It is, Greg. I b1tch because of the silliness of some of the things, but where else can a redneck TPK (Trailer Park Kid) with NO college and ADD make $60k+ a year? Its been great for me and my family. It has its challenges, at times but I can still learn a lot and I doubt I will ever know it all even within our little group. I call our group Cloud City (Bespin Gas Mines) from Empire Strikes back.
