Today Sherri has us hooked up with 2 different Christmas events. One is a charity deal which is nice, the other is a 'here's how I've spent the year since I last saw you' thing. Booze, that's the key to surviving those.

Another fine day in the life, ain't it? I need to do some stocking stuffer shopping for my wife then werking for an hour or so tonight for a server reboot (It's the free Canadian one again) then nothing but family time for the next week.
My Pop called me last night, my Mom is in the hospital in Florida. She'd been feeling poorly since late August, thought it was just the flu and that she was feeling the effects of advanced age (66) in that it was harder to recover. Not sure what prompted her to go see the doc but her blood work came back showing a possible problem with her kidneys so they are keeping her for a few days and doing more tests. I will know when they know. Waiting on tests is ****...makes you anxious.

on top of the mom stuff, wife is pissed at me...again.
The other morning her Dad came by to drop off some tea and drink mix stuff. He put it on the front step, rang the doorbell then left. Well, at 0700 my wife and daughter were still sleeping and the stuff is non perishable so he woke them up for no reason, especially given that he was backing down the driveway by the time I opened the front door. So I called him a jackass....and she was at the top of the steps and heard me. She is a Daddy's girl, 100%. He had no reason to ring the doorbell other than to stir up ****, which he LOVES to do. So she is mad that dear old Dad has been maligned. I apologized but she said it was not sincere because I said it so quickly that it was surely on my heart already....which is true, I hate that man. He is lazy and revels in the woes of others. He brings nothing positive to my family, nor his own from what I can see. In the 2 1/2 years we have been in this house, just .7 miles from his he has come over to visit my wife and the kids 0 times just for the sake of visiting. He will come over for family functions but not just for a visit to see how they are doing. He drives 10 miles to his other daughters house to pick up her dog and doggy-sit while she is at work but cannot come see his grand-kids? WTF!?
Anyhow, it's not shaping up to be a very Merry Christmas. Wish I could go for a therapeutic ride but the roads are still covered with sand.
