From what I've read as long as you shoot regular ammunition you will get normal wear. If you shoot a lot of +P the wear will be accelerated. 9mm or .40.

+p loads seem a waste to me... if you use standard loads, practice shot placement you don't need hot loads... Pistols are tested at the extreem side of the spectrum and will handle +p loads, which are around 10% hotter than standard, but like hopping up a bike motor the wear and tear of more power wears down the mechanical parts faster...

I should of said that pistols are tested with proof loads, I don't remember what they are above the standard load but at least 10% higher for the worst possible scenario if you had a real hot load...

They make +p+ loads too but I personally wouldn't use em.... they do not use a standard that the make them. Why wear out your pistol prematurely, only yo have a time bomb in your hands...
