Checked the mail. IRS letter, instant Oh, ****. Open envelope. They want to give me about 1100 bucks because I incorrectly reported a capital gain in 2013.
I am not making this up....they want to send me money.

For the first request, my manager, the Prince of Sumac, an island in the Sahara desert, will be sending you an email asking for some additional information.
The second request, it just so happens I'm an expert in this field, or at least that's what I tell people.
But seriously, be careful with the IRS letter, especially if they are asking for more information.

Yes, the Prince and I are currently communicating via email. I thought asking for my SSN was a bit forward but hey, he says he know ya so what the hell, I sent it.

Did the IRS letter provide EXACT details of the error (including the details of that capital gain, in terms of dollars)?

Eavnin. Well the deal is done. Bought my 9mm. Gotta wait 10 days for my "cooling off" period. Cool folks at this shop. The FFL that was going to do the deal with the inter famile gun transfer was wrong. Inter family out of state firearm transfers are easy. Pops buys gun and registers it in his name. We fill out a form and mail it in. Bam. 10 days later its in my wife's name. No hassle. Anyways. Gunna save up for my XD45 Mod 2.

Yes it did, Craig. Brokerage firm listed with what I reported, what info they received, difference, adjustment, etc.

I was asking because there are a LOT of IRS scams out there right now.
