Im pretty stoked! Mama gets on a plane for Montana in two weeks! Honestly didnt think FIL was gunna go for it.

It comes in a lockable case from Sprinfield. She puts a padlock on it. When she checks her bags she informs TSA that she has a locked and unloaded handgun with no amunition to check. She signs a form and they confirm this. Then she comes home with it. Once home we go to the FFL with a gift letter from the FIL. The FFL transfers it to her. Done. All legal.
