Daughter called early (had just fixed the morning coffee), said it sure would be a beautiful day for a ride, gotta bike running?
It wus a beautiful day. She wore leather under the mesh jacket, 52* when we started out. I had my leather vest on under mine.
Rode up some road alongside the St. Croix river in Wisconsin. Some nice twisties. AND I SCRATCHED MY SPORTY! Found the limit on a right hand sweeper, lower muffler doesn't have as much chrome on it now... Wasn't just a scrape, wus a skeeraaaaape and grind... I knew that wusn't gonna be purty. Found out this is as far as I'm gonna put road wear on the tire, about 1/8th inch from the sidewall corner. So if sumbuddy asks why I don't use all my tire, it's cause this is as far as the tire wears; wears metal after that.
Stopped at a park along the St Croix, paved walking trails, but we didn't leave the bike. That wimpshield takes all the pressure off (arm, shoulders and back did fine), but it's awful noisy, needa quieter helmet. Dint think about the shield when I passed that truck, guess I don't have to worry about going too fast with it now. Doesn't hold the 1200 back, either, that and 2 up, and it still grabs 91mph right quick.
Chow time. Muddy Waters restaurant in Prescott, Wisconsin, nice place. Big area right by the entry marked off for motorcycles, too. She hadda bloody mary and a beer chaser, guy in front hadda Mellow Yellow...
That's the Big Muddy behind her, gets a bit bigger down Scoteh's way.
Down the Mississippi a ways, the Naughty Hawg biker hangout. 'Nuther beer for her, coffee for the old guy. Place looked almost abandoned, couldn't have been more'n a dozen Harleys. Seen many times that before.
The 2 lane on the Wisconsin Side of the Mississippi has great curves, and I was running a bit over the limit sumtimes, and somewhere around 75-80, this little trail bike passes me. I know he was enjoying himself, but that thing sure did look tiny after the Harleys I'd passed.
Crossed back to Minnysota at Red Wing. No more twisties...
I'd call this a mighty fine day, shoulda been a lot more like this this summer, but ya gotta be happy with what ya get.

Yer right, gotta do it while I still can! Kinda forgot the daughter was behind me a few times, though, shouldn't do that. She loves it, though, said grinding metal doesn't bother her. Still young enough to feel immortal...
