Sounds like you did the best possible, keeping it up and bleeding off as much speed as possible. I've seen way too many "had to lay it down" posts, usually about the worst thing you can do. Easy to lose a leg sliding under a car. Know how you feel about missing riding time, haven't been on a Harley for over a month, only been able to do short trips on my sidecar rig for a couple weeks now. The longer reach for the Harley bars has been more than my right arm could handle. Last year, it was over a month for a rotator cuff injury - mine wasn't near as bad as KR's, no surgery. You should see a doc as soon as possible, might give you some muscle relaxants, lot of the pain is often muscles that clinch tight in an automatic response to injury and won't release on their own for a few days. You can't work taking those, either. Bet you came close to stopping, even 20 mph can shatter bones. Glad that didn't happen.

I was fortunate in the way the jeep is laid out. The fender flairs created a pocket that my leg slid into, and with it being a soft top, my upper body just sunk into that. I give God the credit... I just knew hitting it head on wouldn't have ended so well.

if you look at the pics, the scratches on the tank are from the fender flare. I'm guessing the brake pedal got bent on the body. I still don't know how the sissy bar pad got tore up. I could beat it into shape and ride it, but like I said, I'm going to leave it alone until the insurance companies work things out.
