I hope Mike doesn't run into the crazy weather out these parts. Ugliness in Oklahoma and SW Mizzery yesterday, with a tornado doing damage down Joplin way. We had an inch of rain overnight with bunch of hail. More boomers coming today. Must be Spring in the midwest!

Parents spent Dad's last years in Joplin, he died and she moved to Atlanta a few years before that big tornado. Google satellite photos showed their house had blue patches on the roof, major destruction path edge was only two blocks away. Hospital Dad spent so much time in was wrecked.

My brother lives just east of Springfield, and he gets a lot of crazy weather. Storms are always rolling up the I-44 corridor. We get our share of tornadic weather over here in the eastern side of the state, but they get that north Texas - Oklahoma stuff down that way. It's good that your mom was elsewhere. Yep, that hospital was ravaged.

Google street view shows the framework of the new hospital being built just south of I-44 in 2013, don't know when it opened. The site of the one destroyed is a memorial park now. Doubt I'll ever get back to Joplin. Nice town, had some good places to eat, too. Missouri Ozark area wouldn't be a bad place to live, Dad sure liked it there.

It's like everywhere else I've ever been, the Ozarks have their positives and negatives. There's folks who would share everything they have, and there's folks who would steal everything you have. Regardless, I always feel much more comfortable, and welcome, with the backwoods folks than I do the city folks. And, it's a far sight more beautiful out in the hills and hollers anyway!
