I was just passing through and sharing pertinent information, Doc.

 

Hickory is a real hard wood. I thought my ash trees would be easy to cut, since ash is an easy woodworking wood, but the chain saw blade raised smoke pretty quick. I haven't used the saw since the arm problem, but maybe next week, still have enough left for at least a couple blade sharpenings. Cutting isn't the problem for me, though it is a workout; what just puts me down quick is lugging all that wood to a pile.

 

I can believe it. Hit one of those things at around 30mph in Texas on the old Honda 305, front wheel impact was violent, rear one near launched me over the bars - hit my **** so hard it hurt. Didn't even knock the animal over, just keep walking across the road. When they tuck their feet under their belly, like a lump of concrete.

.223s can ricochet over 1000 times, seen it happen. Sounded like a swarm of big bees for a split second. Bullets ricochet off water real easy. Coming back at ya is unusual, but I saw a video of a guy shooting a 50 cal rifle (Barett?), bullet came back and shot his ear protector off. Bet that hurt, too.

 

You got that right. I'm hoping the Wheel Horse I got from Ken will haul my splitter to the wood. I'd rather move split wood than the big chunks. Either way, I am going to have to start splitting wood soon. I have a lot of wood that needs split. I really like burning hickory.
