I probably wouldn't have gotten this opened up with hand tools by the end of summer. Heavy sucker, but that 'lectric jack hammer made short werk of 4" concrete. Never even felt it punch through a steel pipe - that wus coming out anyhow.

We once rented a couple of those to put a hole through a basement wall big enough for French doors. After we dug out the foundation. Wouldn't have been a bad job, but the concrete was made with creek gravel (2"-) and the forms had bowed to where some of the wall was 18" thick. All of it was at least 12". Then 2 years later, the SOB moved.

We had to get the 90 lb'er pneumatic jobs out at the lead smelter when things got badly fouled. Once saw molten lead ore solidify in every piece of machinery (toothed crushers mostly) and channels in the 5 story drop the ore made from the oven. Even having the jack hammers roped to a girder somewhere, that vertical work kicks your butt in a hurry. Shift before us did the bad doing. Unfortunately, it was on a short-change weekend for me. Saturday night 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, then back in at 2:30 PM for my Sunday shift. That weekend sucked.

Dina and I made it to Louisa, Kentucky. We got soaked in some strange campground in West Virginia last night so tonight we went all out for a hot tub and pool at a Best Western. Tomorrow a.m. I,ll give Tracy a call for our exclusive tour of Kentucky,s roads.

It's just like the first time I was in Kentucky as a child. I didn't see any blue grass then, and I didn't see a blue moon. I'm so disappointed.

Lots of nice roads in Kentucky, too. Have fun!
