Got 6-7 yrs to go , and hopin' by that time will have enough to not have to eat dog food. Would have to be the dry stuff ( if my teeth hold up) can't stomach the smell of the cabbed stuff.

 

Woke up a bit after 3 am, gave up on sleep by 5.

Doc, ya must be living on that bike. I haven't even got 700 miles yet this year. 'Course, it takes a while to put miles on a Ural. Get the rest of the veggies in the ground this week, I can get the wheels on the 1200 and get some real miles in, hopefully. Then the wheels come off the Ural...

When I was a kid, there was a canned dog food, think "Sargent" was in the name, was a lot like corned beef hash, and I'd sneak a bite when I fed the dog. Later in life, was something called Alpo, old enough not to taste it, but the beef version smelled delicious.

Lived in Arkansas a few months, 1969? Local grocery store had a canned dog food sale, people were buying it by the case. Mentioned to a guy working there that folks there must have a lot of dogs; he said to hush, most of them didn't have dogs... It wasn't what you'd call an affluent town.

 

Yep...when ya ain't got the money...an yer hungry....you'd be surprised what you'd eat to stay alive.
I can tell ya for sure that C rations tasted pretty good once ya got used to 'em.

 

Moldy says something about this country , people here going hungry. Sure take billions of our $$$$'s and ship it all over the world to keep people who hate us and our way of life off ours backs. But feed and take care of our own?? No way. Get your own house in order before ya go looking to take care of someone else's.

 

Mornin check in. Got appointment at VA clinic at 9:30. Can't have any coffee or breakfast till after. Thought the appointment was scheduled for last week but I looked online and it said today.
