Poser's Coffee House, All Bullshit Accepted, Part VII
gonna head out tomorrow and get a new battery. Any words of advice on if the HD battery is worth the $$$, or just hit up Wal-Mart and call it good
Morning guys. I don't ride nekkid anymore but in my younger days....if ya ever saw an empty flatbed trailer with a lose binder strap flappin' in da wind cookin down the interstate.....course like Mike says old age, low temps and dickey doo ensure DOT compliance. Well sad goings on in Meechigun. Grumpy was hospitalised exactly 1 week after his wife of 53 years passed and now they're not optimistic on his chances for recovery and don't give him much time...advanced emphysema.
The guys at the local auto parts store tell me their battery is a brand name from a big factory with their sticker on it. I've had one in my Ultra for a couple years now and the bike seems to eat the electrons without a bad taste in its' mouth. Funny I hopped on it to ride and meet KR on a visit up north when the stock one just died on my 08 so I went up to the store in front of my sub and bought what they had in stock at Auto Zone. In and out in like, 2 minutes. No problems. BTW those little Battery Tenders make them last forever it seems.
My HD batteries last 5 to 6 Years .

I'll probably end up givin it a try. I had her on a charger/tender... she's done though. No idea how old it is, I'll look for a date when I pull it out tonight
I know it ain't a bike, but I've had a cheapo battery in the Ram for about 5 years without a hiccup. I'll give el cheapo a shot, if it doesn't work, lesson learned
When you couple the lower miles I put on in a year then when I was really hard core with the fact that the tenders are much better at maintaining the battery then the old trickle chargers (unless you actually were **** about adding up the amp hours) the replacemant batteries seem to last just about as long for me as the originals any more. Hell I was paying almost as much for Die Hards, Dekas or Interstates anyways. I also tend to think that the reason the originals appear to last so long is they are installed in brand new motorcycles with fresh stators and voltage regulators as well as totally corrosion free wiring....and they're not amped out by half *** owner modded shady splicing jobs and loose crimp connectors causing resistance and heat.....oh and let's not forget my personal favorite the twist and tapers...
