Figure that to get us a fixer upper (50 grand) + fixing it up (30 grand) + and RV (150 grand) we could build a REAL nice house and buy something in the south for winter!

Prawly a better way to go. I've got a friend who retired from Bell Helicopter who did the fulltime RV route....The expense was staggering!!!!

I have a couple of friends that do it. The ability to move around is nice......but you are restricted to living in a small space (which we could do , no problem) and the costs (as you say) could be staggering!

Probably build a REAL nice 1800 sq ft house with full basement for less that $150,000 and something in, say Florida for $40,000. Still ahead of the game!

I gave up that soaring decades ago, cost too much. Only thing that wus as much fun as motorsickles, dammit. After decades of breakfast in the dark, it just feels soooo good to sleep till the sun comes up. That's about lunch time in Frozelandia winters....

I RV'd inna '59 Rambler station wagon in the summer of '76, dint cost much at all. Just gotta know how to poop behind the bushes, but we learned that in the Army. Decided I'd had enuf when the night temps got up to 100*. The old 6 cylinder Rambler got great mileage on the road (but wus kinda slow climbing some of those hills in Utah), but not running the ac all night... Back in those days people were more trusting; I remember driving up to an airliner at night and getting a leftover meal. Dint take much of that to decide I could afford a 75 cent meal at McD's...

Florida! Shudder... Every time I hear that word, I remember being slimed by thousands of bugs on that ride across the swamp at night. Getting soaked every hour or two by those 20 minute showers. Using the ac inna car on Christmas day... well, I wouldn't mind that, after living in Frozelandia... Remember some bare boobies down there, too. Ok, it ain't all bad.
