Throughout all this-this silly attacking a flag-has done NOTHING to address any current issue that exists. Instead, it has been used, yet again, to draw lines between Americans. The media, and politicians, have become VERY proficient at making mountains out of molehills. The removal of the flag has done nothing for any movement. It is "feel good politics". Nothing more. I mean, look at the people talking about this in this thread alone. At the end of the day-did removing it REALLY do any good?
And, the comparison of the confederate battle flag to the swastika is a misnomer, sorry. They are two different movements altogether. Slavery was part of the reason for the souths attempted secession, but not the only reason. The entire **** movement was to create a master race. American cecession was a combination of politics, economy, and way of life. It was radically different from the growing industrialization of the north. It was still agrarian in nature-and a manual labor economy. When the south lost, and the carpetbaggers came in-the poor whites suddenly found themselves competing for menial labor jobs due to the newly freed slaves introduced into the workforce. Northern politics, greed, and human nature created the post war attitudes towards newly freed slaves. Flags didnt. Hate groups grew up out of frustration. Violence erupted because of it. Unfair laws did.
Sorry for the long rant, but, this whole flag business is out of control. All because some crazy kid posted a pic of himself with it on Facebook. Yet, of all the issues that COULD have been addressed-they politicized a flag.
And, millions rallied behind that. This is classic duping the public. This is tent revival religious manipulation. Nothing more. Honestly, this is a political magic trick. And, it sickens me to see millions of my fellow Americans fall for such a lowbrow trick.

 

Time to put this one to bed.
