HDF removes Confederate Flag patches

Years after the war former Confederate president Jefferson Davis stated " I Am saddened to Hear Southerners Apologize For Fighting To Preserve Our Inheritance" .
Some years later former U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt stated " Those Who Will Not Fight For The Graves Of Their Ancestors Are Beyond Redemption".
A short history lesson for the unwashed (and unshaven) masses.

Just another topic for CNN and Fox to get everybody's Spiderman underwear in a knot over so they can sell more advertising time for 4-hour erection pills and super absorbent maxi-sleep number pads... Our country's focus on knee-jerk, feel good, answers to much more complex questions is pathetic...

First off I would like to say that being a Canadian, I have been fascinated with the Civil War since I was a kid and endured many hours listening to my father telling me stories from that era as he as far as I am concerned knows so much about that time in our southern neighbours history. I have as well as my father a Confederate flag and my father for many years would wear his Grey's while black powder shooting at competitions in Montana. Most people don't know but a many Canadians went and fought in the war from down east. I am really po'd that SC would even consider taking the beloved Confederate flag down after all these years. The war has been over since 1865 people-get over it!!!! Every flag in the world has some kind of history behind it. Are we/they going to abolish every flag that offends someone in one way or another?? Remember what happened to Pluto? God, of all the things to make into an issue. Not homelessness or feeding the hungry but a 150+ year old flag that's been a staple of the South. I'm not a Southerner and yet I feel disappointed that it has come to this. My 2 cents.........from a Canadian Sympathizer..

I wonder if they are going to take "Happy Days" off the air. I clearly saw a picture of a Confederate battle flag on Richie's wall on last nights episode. It was an advertisement for the Daytona 500.

The Confederate flag represented the Southern Rebels who opposed the abolition of slavery in the United States and went to war with the United States on that issue. The abolition of slavery was the reason for the civil war. It also represented those that supported segregation in the southern US this past century. As a result the Confederate flag has always been a rallying point for racists everywhere. Not all who fly the Confederate flag are raciest but all racists and white supremacist groups fly the Confederate flag and use it as a means to identify themselves. It is impossible to abolish racism but government institutions should be free of it.
