Hey all -

I'm planning a May ride from Colorado to the mid Gulf Coast - to Englewood (Manasota Key actually) to spend some time on the beach. I'll be doing the long ride solo and will pick the wife up at the Tampa airport. I'd like to checkout the areas north and south of where we will be staying. Does anyone have any suggestions for things to see? Any "don't miss this" kinda destinations? I figure a good range is about 200-250 miles out and back per day, so that leaves out places like the Keys.

All suggestions appreciated.

 

Crystal River Area and Ride Ozello Trail .. At the end of the Trail Have some decent Seafood as well at Pecks Cove .. Crystal River HD is close by as well and across from there is a place called High Octane that might be worth a short stop ...

Jay you took my idea...lol. But also remember the "Freezer" is up there too for some awesome fresh shrimp! I like the ride over the skyway and riding up to PCola is always beautiful! Ceder Key is nice too! You'll be in great weather and maybe we will be able to ride with ya! Have a great time down here...I miss CO I used to live in Aurora.

 

The peninsula is not that wide. You could travel across state if you wanted to but Jay and Trish have made some nice suggestions to get you out of the heavy traffic in the Tampa Bay area.
