Extended Warrenties:
Thoughts on them? Do they provide the same type of coverage as the new bike warrenty, or are they just good for "catastrophic" repairs?
I just got a notice (from a HD sponsered warrenty company) that my warrenty expires on my Ultra Limited the end of March.... I've never bought an extended warrenty for anything before as I don't believe they are worth the money, but my bike is a different story.

Depends on the miles you ride. I ride a good bit. Mine is an aftermarket extended recommended by the Ocala Harley service manager through RPM One. No deductible and great coverage. I paid around $1200 for four additional years coverage and have collected at least 4 fold over the initial price, with over a year left on warranty. They have covered anything that has popped up, save for the normal wear items. That is with 160,000 on the clock right now. Last time in for warranty repair the service writer for the warranty company said that was the most miles on one he had ever OKed!!

I bought the 3 year through the hd dealer where I bought the biked used, 1200 or so for 3 years with the tire and wheel coverage, stater went out last year would have been 500 plus, my deductible is 50 so I still figure its half way paid for itself with half the warranty period to go. a buddy of mine poped 2 tires at once, ran over something in the road, cost him 50 deductible and he was good to go. If I knew how to work on Harleys better, I wouldn't buy but I don't and I aint no teenager no more, patience is gone for that type of thing so to me yeah, Ill get the warranty again next time.

I paid $1500 for two years extra.....I got new rear head/valves, compensator, stator, wheel bearings, antennae, radio, two stator plugs, starter/two primary bearing replacments.....I am sure I went through $1500. (Plus all the gaskets/oils/do-dads/springs/other things that go with the repair).
You takes your chances.
