Some New Parts On My Bike. "Power Hungry" Riders Take Note!
First let me say that I am in no way affiliated with PBR Powersports. I was just looking to add and upgrade my USB power sources, they had exactly what I was looking for. http://www.3brpowersports.com/products.htm
The first part of my project was to remove the factory cig lighter from the dash of my Street Glide, replace it with this "Panel Tapp". It came with enough wiring to reach all the way to the battery, complete with inline fuse and ring terminals. The USB port has a watertight cap, and by using the proper cable shields, makes a nice connection. The 2nd Pic shows the finished installation.
*NOTE: I decided to wire the port to the existing cig lighter wiring, making it even easier to install. However, if you want to power anything while the bike is off, you WILL want to run the wires to the battery.

The next part of the project was to install another USB port, and connect it to the accessory switch on the dash next to the Cruise Control switch. 3BR Powersports sells exactly the part. It's a USB port with 6ft shielded cable, complete with the 4 pin deutch connector that plugs into your bike under the seat. This is what it looks like.
Here is where I mounted the port. It is zip-tied to the fork tube, feeding my Garmin GPS. If you've ever tried to power a Garmin NUVI thru a USB cable, you know that it doesn't work. But 3BR powersports sells a special USB cable that has the neccessary circuitry to enable charging thru USB. And their USB ports come in the standard 1.0amp, and also 2.1 amp, for those power-hungry tablets and such.
