hey guys, Ill come right out, I dont know **** about mechanic / motors. I wont even pretend. But ive been noticin that my bikes gas mileage is pretty bad. I have a 2000 Fatboy, 88V-twin, got the SE 211 Cams. Stage 1 exhaust.

It never dawned on me till I rode with somebody else that I run outta gas WAY before they do. I get about 100 miles per fill up. I use the premium gas. Tried using some Seafoam. Still averages about 100. Something notable, when i start it cold, if i dont keep some throttle or the choke somewhat open itll conch out. This started BEFORE the 211 cams but has become magnified since.

Any clues on what this can be? How many miles do u guys get per tank??

 

Sorry man. I get about 220 miles on a 6 gallon tank. My little yellow light comes on and I have slightly less than a gallon left to go find gas.

That's only 36mpg, slightly better when I'm mostly highway. I'm basically Stage 1; still there are guys getting better than that.

Something's up with your ride. You're barely seeing 20mpg. Is this a big Buick? Hee hee hee.

get your carb rejetted first. then may be ignition timing???

 

you had bad mileage before the cams as well? What carb?

 

To answer the miles per tankquestion--

I too was only gettin about 100 miles between tanks. Stock evo with thunderheader and screamin eagle intake. So, about 31mpg.Yesterday I FINALLY figured out my mikuni hsr 42 I put on the bike. Re-jetted the carb, and now it not only runs better, has crisper throttle repsonse, but my mileage went up to 36mpg so far. I expect with steady crusing-somewhere closer to 40 mpg.

 

Wow, that is some bad mileage, especially if your not burning off the back tire. Almost sounds like it is race tuned. Also wondering if it was like that before the cam change?

 

Maybe we now know where Phil's supercharger went.........
