No worries - I lucked out anyway - the damn patch company lost my order and never even started the work yet. Re-ordered a 4.5" inch version of the same patch for the front. Whenever/wherever we meet up I will buy ya a beer for your advice.

"...the 1% subculture is not remotely interested in your "rights". If you choose to wear a large back patch, in their eyes you have entered their world, and their rules apply."

How do they feel about BIG blue bunny ears? (Then you have entered our world!).

Let them ride with us first before you tell them we are a bunch of misfits.

Just for the record..... I did hear back from COC this morning. As expected, they are frowning on back-patches. Should I write-back and ask about bunny ears?

The guy's name and club affiliation is redacted here on the forum, but here's the text:

"Sorry it has taken me so long ,been out of town. If you are not a club and if it is not on your back,I would not worry about it. That doesn't mean that you guys won't get questioned about it. If you are concerned about it you should introduce yourselves to the 2 major M/C's. I know they do not want any more patches on backs in this area."

Thanks Paul. Glad my PSA was helpful to get this cleared up.

Wow, this whole patch thing is so complicated...

I say we all wear bunny ears and call it done.

On another note, does anyone know if there would be any problem with Harley with regard to using the bar and shield shape on a patch?

Aw jeeze......... here we go. I'm sure it's not allowed, but we're not selling them on the open market, no one is making a profit, and you don't have to buy it (or wear it) if you are uncomfortable. The MoCo has bigger fish to fry, IMHO.

I guess this would not be a good time to mention case law concerning the Bar and Shield. I don't think we can use the term Hog either.
