Well Dave, I will finish or die trying, will represent the Crew well I hope, I dont plan to win the thing but if I am in top 100 at the half way point I will pour it on a bit, if I take the money (which I doubt), there will be a sizable party plus I will give mucho $ to Fisher House and Wounded Warrior. Has been on my bucket list for a while also, running out of things on that list, have to get some beers in me and add to it (jumping out of plane). Wish you guys were coming along.

As far as tracking was hoping for a little help from Charlie or other more tech savy people, will have my laptop and 3g card to check in when there is coverage. Will also take plenty of pics but wont know how to post the dam things so might start a facespace page or something.

If my work schedule allows I will haul *** back if not I will haul *** from homer to Seattle (2500 miles) and ship the bike from there or just store it til I can get up and get it. Hoping to ride back though.

Trip up is supposed to be 7800 miles secondary roads almost all the way, trip back will be highway for me something like 5000 miles or so, If I have time I will ride the west coast then across through Ariz, NM, Tex to home.

This will be an adventure hope we dont lose too many riders and nobody bites the dust along the way.

Good luck buddy.... will be thinking of you the whole way, and plan on doing a Florida chunk with you as well. Be nice if between all of us we can escort you the whole way thru Florida.

When my brother was visiting last week he kept glancing at his iPhone. I finally asked what was so interesting. He turned the phone towards me and showed me a map. On the map was a marker. He said that was were his 16 year old son was. So he was keeping an eye on him. So there must be software in which we can use to track you during the race.

If you have an Android based phone there is an app called GPS Tracker. It allows you to run the app on the phone and it logs to a map on the internet that anyone with the URL can follow along on.

http://www.instamapper.com/

I am sure iphone has a similar app.

That one works on the I-Phone except you cant see tracking. Some of Apple's BS. It says it works great on an Android and all Blackberry's Except for Verizon plans. Veroizon disables GPS in their phones for some inane reason. They have a forty dollar prepaid from 7/11 that is was designed for and the said it work great. I imagine he is going to be in the land of no service for a good portion of this ride so we will just have to sit and wait on news from him when he is on the dark side of the moon. We will be just like mission control used to be during the Apollo missions. Just wait and pray.

+1 - Being satellite based it won't loose service unless your under heavy tree coverage or in a tunnel, etc.
