charley was expected to hit us all week long. i remember even had the house all boarded up and food stocked and everything. standing out in the street talking to neighbors and "waiting" for this to happen. then last min it turns.
look at Claudette this weekend, it literally skimmed the coast yesterday. hell i even had a pool party, not a drop of rain here. actually i rode the bike yesterday. i have said for years this area here has a bubble over it.

its that time of year when we make sure the generator is ready to go and we have ample fuel, water and food supplies.

hurricane charlie went inland just north of here... weather guy on tv says ok cape coral, find that special place and hunker down. caught us by surprise because it was supposed to go north of lee and charlotte counties.

cape coral had a tornado yesterday... tore up 23 houses

from the radar this morning, looks like the panhandle is getting a fair amount of rains.

Raining like a ***** right now.

A few limbs on the ground. Other than that, we survived.

Definitely need the rain. The wet stuff has been pretty sparse the past couple years.

We got rain and wind like any old summer storm. They missed the storm surge prediction by about 4'. Instead of a surge coming in on the high tide, all the water got sucked out of the bay and the 1 AM "high tide" looked more like a low tide.

Every since they screwed the pooch on the Huricane Dennis storm surge prediction they have been forcasting for much higher tides than what actually have been occuring. With Dennis they had forcast 5' and we actually got over 12'. Folks in Apalachee bay got 1 hour notice at 5 AM and by 6AM the water was overtopping their cars.
