Default Off Topic- But I got laid-off Today.

It finally happened. I knew I was running the thin line, having had three different Directors and 4/6 peer managers laid-off before me. Now there is one technical manager left there.

At 8:30 this morning I was called into a conference room to see my newest Director and a HR manager sitting there. I knew immediately what was about to happen.

I kept my head high, was offered pay for the rest of this week and 1-week severance pay. I will get paid for my remaining vacation days, but I lose my personal days accrued.

To be honest, the first thing I thought of was to get home to make this post.

It really, really sucks getting laid-off. My first time ever for this experience. I can only imagine what's ahead of me trying to find another job.

Anyway, I need my friends.

That blows! Hope you find a better job soon.

When I first read the post title, I thought it was good news because I saw "I got laid today". Funny what the mind wants to see sometimes!

Man, that really sucks. I know you've kinda been expecting it for a while now.

Now that you have the most important task out of the way (posting here), #2 on the list is to take advantage of your temporary freedom by getting out and riding. It'll clear the head and put things in perspective. Maybe a good time for Road Trip?

Been in the same boat for over a year now. Every week I keep waiting to hear "the news", but it hasn't happened yet. All I can think is, "If they're going to lay me off I hope it's at least in the Summer so I can take advantage of the riding weather"! I hope you land on your feet though.

I'm sorry.. no matter if you are expecting it or not, it sucks. Huge blow to your self esteem.

I had it done to me in December last year. I continued to get up at 7am every weekday, hunt the internet from 7:30 to 9:30, then go and do whatever I wanted. It gave me that structure and schedule so I didn't fall in too deep on the depressive part of it.

Good luck to you Paul..
