January last year I made it from St. Augustine to Arizona in just over 3 days, taking my time.
Will be back thru there in 2 weeks, but this time will only take me about 8 hours coming from San Diego heading back to Florida.

WARNING - when you enter Arizona and New Mexico better have some gas masks on! The Dairy farms along I-10 / I-8 (if that is how you go) will knock you on your AZZ from the smell.
Nice, desolate, brown, barren landscape with a bunch of cactus to look at however.

Just my two bits.

just over 3 days on a bike???
That is cooking.
I plan to be there bearing unforseen circumstances. The date has been intentionally left open to try to accommodate others. Lets hear more ideas.

OK just read this thread and well I'm in! I understand that everyone has different reasons and concerns on how to get there and back but I will tell you this " Do not miss this, it is what motorcycles were made for. The Southwest has it all twisties, landscape, great food, it should be a trip of a lifetime and to do it with a group of people you already know and be guided by a local! Hell lets enjoy and as the saying goes "I'ts Priceless!"

Keep me in the loop Fly, Ride, Tow, just get there.

I like the way you think!

There will be a number of locals here that will be happy to ride with you guys. Dean (2of2) and I are taking the week off and looking forward to it.

Guess I need to rephrase my unsolicited answer from earlier - I drove there in a Ford Edge. I'm driving back in a Ford F-150.

I'll tackle the bike riding that far (Maybe) after I get it in April.

D@mn !! you guys are getting me excited...just reading this thread / novel when me and the missuz rode from here in south central texas to canaveral -coca beach...650 miles per day +/-, took two 12 hr days.. That includes 15 min fuel stops at 160 miles, (2) 1 hour meal stops each day. On stock seat...we were a little saddle sore.

If any of you guys are riding the bland I-10 out, let me know when you will be between Houston and San Antonio...... I don't know yet about joining in on the ride to Az (would be cool)(maybe a chance for that Iron Butt I've been wanting to do). But at least, If it works, I would like to slide in and ride with ya for a bit...at least.

That would be great if you could ride all the way out. It is going to be a great time for sure.

I was thinking of a ride to check out Montezumas Castle While we are out there. It is a nice ride.

Here is a picture from last time I was there.

Cool place. Last time we were there my son Braden found an indian pottery shard. He turned it in to the park service and they made him an honorary Park Ranger. He was about 10 yrs. old so that made his day.
