Don't mind you posting it at all. It worked great and was fun posting it. I could have done a better job posting. My wife and son said I was crazy and I think you may have been the only one following it. It's also nice for me to be able to look at it after the trip, sort of a mini log. I'm new to the Twitter thing so I'm curious as to how alot of it works.

Have you had any problems with text ads or "spam" on your phone after signing up? I have not so far but one of my friends asked me about it.

In the settings, I'm still in the "public" index, and have had no spam problems. Will shut that off if they start spamming me. Did have one unknown girl send me an invite, but hard to count that as spam. Ha!

There's some cool stuff, ala our Palm Beach Post newpaper has an account, and when you "follow" their handle (Palm Beach Post), you get local news headlines as they happen. Found a couple of lost friends.

Takes a little gettin' used to, but seems to have good privacy controls.

No general forum that I'm aware of, but there are all kinds of sports, news, industry, hobbies, etc. handles you can "follow". I text'd "follow Masters" (no quotes, of course) and rec'd real-time updates on the golf tourney. After it was over, text'd "leave Masters" so nothing more would come through from them.

When you have an account, and simply text a message to 40404, all people "following" you get that message via the web, and/or their phone if they enabled it as well. I text'd "follow sailnjay" to start receiving any messages he sent to 40404 (or via his web account) and therefore received sailnjay's messages/posts as he sent them on his trip.

If you send "d sailnjay message...", the d (direct) will make the message private to only sailnjay. If you simply send a msg to 40404 or post on the web, all "followers" will receive it.

Examples:
d sailnjay What'r you up to, my friend? ===== only sailnjay will receive "What'r you up to, my friend?"

I'm hangin' at the inlays right now. ===== Sends "I'm hangin' at the inlays right now." to everone following you.
