Florida / Georgia Meetup Lodging Choices

I liked staying at th Ironhorse. It was great. Cabins were only $60.00 per night with two twin beds. That would be 30 per person if two people wanted to split it. I'm sorry, but I don't think I will be able to make this trip. I hate it, because I know this is going to be an awesome trip. Spend a week with some of my dearest friends riding the curves of the mountains and hanging out at night. I hope everyone has fun. I will be recovering from my Ireland trip. You know they have 1500 pubs over there....

Maggie Valley will be your best choice. The ride to the Dragon is on a very nice 4 lane highway most of the way with little traffic and very few if any stop lights.
I was up there last year at this time and the weather was perfect. Cool in the morning and warming up into the high 60's low 70's.
The ride through Georgia is not that bad since it is not getting very hot yet.
Many good rides in that area and the Casino is not far away in Cherokee for those feeling lucky.
The Motorcycle Museum is in the area to and is a must see.
Chaps and long underwear should be on your list of "must haves".

Great riding in all directions, it's right next to Wolf Pen Gap rd. a really good riding road. Nights in May can be cool, but that's good for camping and camp fires. Nearest beer is in Dahlonega, about 20 miles.

Based on what input there has been, I’m planning on the destination being Maggie Valley. It puts us in striking distance of a lot of good roads, has a good selection of lodging, restaurants, bars, cell and internet service, etc. After a few days there, if the group decides to move over to Robbinsville then I’ll go with the flow.
BTW: This is not MY trip, it's the groups trip, so if anyone has a better idea, Speak Up.
Anyone have any lodging recommendations in Maggie Valley?
