Rented a Condo in North Myrtle for Bike Week a long, long time ago. Actually rented it from my boss (long story). We ride all they way down there and pull into the condo, park right in front of the door. Neighbor comes out and tells me the will definitely tow my bike. Lots of phone calls, I had to park at the realtor's office near the main gate all week and walk to the actual condo. Rules suck.
Now where to park on the island, I got nothing. Good luck.

You signed the HOA's rules when you bought. Now you have to abide by them. They pretty much can govern any thing within their rules.
Not in Fl, but inherted a town house in a community (mother inlaw passed) that was 55 and older. My wife and I wanted to keep the TH but weren't 55 yet. Talked with Lawyers about fighting it because of age discrimination. Their recommendation was to save your money. You wont win. Ended up selling it.

As a guide to HOA/Condo vehicle restrictions in Florida, the following typically apply:
Gated community - the roads are Private Property, owned and controlled by the association. As such, association rules to exclude certain types of vehicles is legal.
Non-Gated community - the roads are typically considered Public Property. The community can restrict parking on said roads (like no overnight vehicle parking on the street), but they can't restrict vehicle type using the roads.
I recently noticed that a long time gated community here in PBC, Atlantis, removed their gates making the neighborhood streets open to the public. It seems it was a financial decision, as private/gated communities are required to maintain their own roads. By taking down the gates and opening the roads to the public, Palm Beach county had to pickup 75% of the repaving costs.

I live in an over 55 community in Florida and here they say that even if it's over 55 only 80% has to be. We have quite a few residents living here under 55. The only other restriction is that no children under the age of 18 can live with you.
