Today marks the death of a formable mention, I enjoyed my ride today with that guy in the back of my mind. To me he was the Beatles. Dang shame he and disco Paul didn't see eye to eye > laffs

I remember the first time I saw The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. I was 9 years old. They were so damn good I dropped my joint & spilled my scotch!

I really did see the Beatles - twice. In 1965 my mum took me to see them in London, I remember a lot of screaming girls but I was 8 so don't remember much else.

But what I do remember better - in 1965 also, we were in the Bahamas and on our way to the airport. Our taxi driver asked what time our flight was and said he was going to do a detour. My dad was freaking out that we'd miss our flight but the driver insisted it wouldn't take long. We drove out to some sugar cane fields and the driver stopped and said, 'look, there are your Beatles'. So we got out of the taxi and watched them do some takes running in and out of the sugar cane. Pretty cool for an 8 year old obsessed with the Beatles.

 

I saw them at Shea Stadium in '65. The crowd was so deafening you couldn't hear a much of what they played. I swear that's where my hearing loss first started.
