Default Something to look at during the day

We just moved and after weeks of chipping away I finally just brought it inside. 99 Sportster 1200, bought it, took it apart, and left the motor and wiring but redid the rest. Was my first try. After riding it for a while I started thinking, "you put the brakes and everything else on this, maybe bring it inside to look at and ride the 2005 Deluxe for a while." Anyway, it is something to look at during day while working!

The XLX was produced for just 3 model years, 1983-1985. The 1983 model had a thin seat and dual disc brakes up front. 1984 had a thicker seat and a single disc up front. Partway through the year, the 1984 XLX got an alternator to replace the generator, and the 1985 model was basically the same as the late 1984 model. They were originally available only in black with a black exhaust, but toward the end, a fancy version was available with a chrome exhaust and a couple extra colors (red and blue, if I remember correctly)to choose from. Here’s an ad for the 1983.

I remember the XLX-61 being introduced in 1983 as a budget version of the 1000cc Ironhead Sportster, the exhaust system and handlebars were painted black instead of chromium plated to keep the cost of production down. Here is another 1983 advertisement for the XLX-61.

I did consider buying an XLX-61 in 1983, but I opted for one of Triumph's last models to roll out of the Meriden works, the 1983 Triumph TSX, a West Coast cruiser styled variant of the T140ES Bonneville.

Nice bike! I had a 1973 Triumph 750 Tiger for a few years before I bought the XLX (used). I’m pretty sure the XLX brochure you posted is a scan of the brochure I posted a few places a number of years ago. I see it all over the place now…lol. Here’s the other side.
