My stock pegs on my 48 dropped down about an inch and were too long. I removed those and made my own. They are an inch shorter than stock and I came straight out of the mount. Gave me a lot more clearance. But mine are rigid so if I scrape them they aren't going to have any give. But it's been two or three years now and I've never scraped them and I get after it in the curves.

 

I took the stock pegs off mine and put on mini footboards. Now I scrape the forward pipe heat shield if I lean too far. I may have to do something myself!

I don't scrape that often but don't like when I do. A bump in a turn can cause me to scrape.

 

Simple answer: raise the bike

 

I've never scraped my pegs on my 883R ever. In fact in nearly 40 years of riding i can't remember scraping my pegs on any motorcycle.

 

Install a used set of 12-3/4" Road King air shocks. Improves the ride and handling. And increases ground clearance, for about $100.
