Default Swapping fuel pump?

Ok,

when switching tanks and reusing the fuel pump 1: does the gasket on the base plate need to be changed? 2: I read that Harley uses a sealer on the screw threads that hold the pump on so gas doesnt leak down through the screw threads. What product would one use to put on the screw threads when reinstalling the pump?

Thanks

1. it's normal practice to replace gaskets! If yours comes away intact you may be able to use it again.
2. where have you heard that?!

ok on the gaskets.

on a youtube video on a 48 tank swap...dont remember which one off hand. the guy is taking out the screws, and he said they were kinda hard and said harley used a thread sealer to keep gas from leaking down threads.

i think he recommended blue lock tite to seal the threads when reinstalling...but im not sure if the blue lock tite is gas proof.

I just did this and I didn't add more locktite to it. I did replace the gasket though and let me tell you it wasn't cheap ($25). Honestly I should have just used the old one...

Didn't do either, lubed the gasket with oil and put a small drop of blue Loctite on each screw though.
