Following Suit!
Hi Mick!
This mod is awesome! In fact, I want to do the exact same to my Forty-Eight! I'd like to do it myself, but want to make sure I am not biting off more than I can chew. You mentioned the only extension you needed was fabbing a 1" for the brake line, but I have no idea what that entails... Any chance you could provide more details on the specifics of the modification? Was that the only extension you needed, and everything else was fine?

Welcome to the forum.
If you look where the steel tubing portion of the front brake line attaches to the upper tree , there is a small clamp and screw.
The bars are wide enough , that the brake line would be pulled pretty tight if the bars were wider.
So I pulled the screw , installed the bars , tweaked the steel tubing portion a bit to the right , and decided to fab a small bracket to solidly mount the clamp to.
It is probably 1.5" wide , 3/4" tall , 1/8" thick , just big enough to hold the position without pulling on the line.
If I replaced the front line with a braided hose (aftermarket) I'd maybe go 2" longer than stock , as there wouldn't be the steel tubing to contend with.
The braided line would give way more latitude for routing than the stock line.
I would have taken a picture , but my wife hid the camera somewhere ....
I'll get a pic maybe tomorrow.

This should clear things up.
Just a quick bracket to stabilize the brake hose and metal tubing.
If I actually painted it , you probably wouldn't ever see it.
I had to pull back the wiring a bit for clarity.
I used the factory screw in it's original position , just added a small bolt and nut for the clamp.
Just a slight bend in the bracket to clear the upper tree for the nut.
The factory bars even have the wiring holes in the bottom for the stock wiring stays , you can see it to the right of the thumb.
A very easy install compared to most mods.
