Soon as we start to cool down here in NY I change out the oil. But for the hot summer months, Jun-Aug, I like to run the 50w. I'll ride into Nov, so the 50w is no good.

Ive been debating going to 50w in the summer. Whats the down side if we get a cold spell in the morning and its below 60 degrees? Im assuming just a harder start due to thicker oil?

Since switching to the 50w we haven't dropped that low in my area. Had a couple of mid 70's mornings when I leave for work, around 5:30am. I just let it warm up a few minutes longer. Probably pissing my neighbors off.

When I was running the 20w50 at the beginning of the summer I was getting alot of blow by. I have open air breather bolts, so I could see the oil on the back of my A/C. Since switching to the 50w, no blow by.

Im running 20w 50 now and when i am in traffic or stop and go light to light i notice more blow by and a little more engine noise. Im thinking 50w may help me here.
