Genuine HD manuals require you to "read between the lines" on occasion, assuming that you are already familiar with component names and what they look like. Aftermarket manuals seem to offer more actual pics of what actual wear, etc. looks like.
It's doubtful any of the keyboard commandos will make fun of you if you own both. For less then a $100 bill, you can have enough reading material to keep you busy for awhile, and you will have something to always review before you try to tackle a project. I think the book is actually better than the movie.........

Get the HD Service Manual (Yes, 2014 Sportster manual is available and yes, there are some changes from the 2007 - 2013 Service manuals). Also get the Parts Manual. I always get both for my bikes.

It shows you every iddy biddy diddy bit that goes into your bike, with its HD part number, all arranged in very helpful exploded diagrams. You can see the same data on any of the on-line parts websites, like this one, but the book is a jolly good purchase!

Actually, mine always do. That is one of the requirement I have for the purchase... And, I only had one time when I had an issue making it that way
(they did not have one in stock, and sent it to me via mail.....)

SpringMan2007

PS -There are 3 HD manuals - Service, Parts, and Electrical........
