Default I think my rear brake is stuck 'on'..adjust?

Started hearing a weird sound... Rear disc is way hot compared to front and seems like the pads are touching the disc as it sits here. Can I do anything to fix this? Adjust it? I was planning on a 4hr ride tomo and 4hr back on Sunday.

Seen it happen a few times. I'd always just get a caliper rebuild kit and flush the brake fluid. They can do some serious damage when they hang up like that.

fack.. what does something like this cost? it may be out of my range of abilities, but i mean i'd give it a try - intense thing to mess with, i think

on the front, I can see a little gap one side, but not the other. on the back, it looks like both are just touching the disc. I can mostly hear the sound when going downhill and the engine is less loud, with no brakes on.

would they have been like this for awhile or is this a sudden thing?

oh one more thing then... can i upgrade any parts for better braking?? (that wont break the bank)

It's pretty straight forward. Just get a service manual and brake fluid, the few times I done it I rebuilt the calipers as well but it is probably not necessary. If you pay to have it done I wouldn't imagine it would be to much, especially if you go to a indy.

yes sir.

I believe I can tackle this. From what I've read everywhere on the forums, I should start by bleeding them and go from there. There seems to be a decent amount of pad left, so hopefully this will fix it.

any recommendations for brake fluid (DOT 5, Silicone-based)?

bike is an 01 883

any pro tips welcome!

also, is it worth flushing the system, since I dont really even know what kind of fluid is in there now?

Yeah you want to flush it. Especially if you don't know the last time it was flushed. I got a 02 sporty and it takes dot 5 so I imagine your 01 is the same but the service manual will tell you for sure.

ya, its DOT 5.

I will take a picture either in a bit if i step outside or in the morning of the front and rear pads - IF they need replacing, is there any caliper/system upgrade i could/should do, or just replace the pads?

is it worth getting a vaccuum bleeder (or using a big syringe and a hose? i'll be doing this solo.

also, what could you recommend for brake cleaner?
