Default Solo seat question with chopped fender?

I was wondering if theres a good solo seat that uses the first mounting hole of the rear fender(one furthest to the front of the bike)?

I like the look of the mustang tripper, but I was thinking if I could get one that ends there could chop the fender and still get a passenger pad or something for the rare times I may have one?

I love the chopped fender look, but may in the future want to have passengers....or am I just getting greedy now?

Does anyone ride with a passenger on their chopped fender?

Also was thinking, could I chop the fender and fender strut right before the middle bolt and still have someone ride on it if I got a single seat with a pad on the fender?

Also like the look of the fenders that are tucked on the tire more then the stock....other then remounting it, is there other ways of doing it? Like lowered springs?

The problem with chopping the fender too much is that you have to ditch the brace underneath the fender which adds strength and support for a passenger. I did two rounds of chopping on mine. The first chop I left the struts and cut about an inch behind the back seat mounting hole. I retained the ability to ride two up with this. The second chop I cut the struts and the back mounting hole off, so I lost the ability to ride two up. What year and flavor sportster do you have? If you go with a nightster style fender, then you will be able to retain passenger options. Lowering the bike to bring the fender closer will definitely not be a fun ride for two people.

'10 iron...what if you chop the fender and strut but weld in some type of brace under the fender to give it a little more stability? Or will it be to weak at the mounting point to hold the weight because then it will only be mounted at one mounting point?

Was thinking some thick "sheet" metal braces that are rolled to the curve of the fender and mounted underneath to add some strength.

I'm sure its possible, but if you cut your fender very much it doesn't leave much room for a passenger pad. Also, their rear end will be hanging over a moving tire.

Yeah totally get what your saying, just love the bobber look but would probably want to ride two up down the road.

You don't have to retain the brace for passengers. The older bikes didn't have it but if you are going to get rid of the brace I would get a non-Nightster/Iron fender that does not have the cut-outs above the rear frame struts. Thst is what i have done in mine.

Oh ok, so is the whole strut removable on the sportsters? I see people with cut ones a lot, but are the rear struts bolt on? And if so why don't people remove the stock ones and bolt on aftermarket ones, so you can return it to stock if you change your mind?

I'm picking up my iron this week, but really want to chop the fender.

Im not sure about earlier models, but the fender struts on the 04 and up Sportsters are part of the frame and not removable. This is why they have to be cut. Once they are cut there is no going back unless you weld them back on.
