parts and accessories in England

Hello old chap! A mixture, including importing from US Ebay and US specialists - there isn't a simple answer. For new genuine Harley parts there isn't any option, except to use Jersey H-D, who don't charge VAT (sales tax for non-UK members). There are several dealers (inc Black Bear) and UK aftermarket specialists who list on Ebay. If they don't advertise what you want ask them off-line.
Take care with US prices and don't get seduced by them, if you haven't done it yet! Shipping costs are very high, especially for large or heavy items, plus you may get hit by UK import duty and VAT, plus other charges. So always try to find a UK supplier first. Having said that I have this week made four purchases on US Ebay of things that cannot be got here for comparable cost.

As above. It depends to some extent what parts you are referring to. I use HD for Harley stuff mainly (though I always check out the part numbers on ebay) for non HD parts there are a few independent sellers around.
One word of caution on ebay. Some items listed are under the HD part numbers, and use HD photos of parts but in the small print they state that it is not a genuine part, that means its a Chinese copy.

Thanks guys, I will bear that all in mind and keep an eye for the small print as 4 stroke advised. I am looking around to find service part costs, accessories etc. Many years ago I used to have American cars and streetrods, I got a lot of bits from JC Whitney but through a mate on the US Airbase near me so got them freepost and no VAT, shame he has moved away. Hi Graham, So you was not just browsing then, I know you said dont get carried away but my bike is almost built to the way I think I want it, all I got to do now is get the bike . has anyone been over to Krazy horse customs in Bury St Edmunds? Great place, good food and great bikes

Gary, I was only cautioning against buying stuff from the States, then getting hit by all the extra expenses. We've had a few UK members who went into such things blind and ignorant and then came in here for a rant. Plainly you're up to speed! On two of my purchases this week the shipping has cost more than the things themselves and there will be additional costs if HMRC get their fingers on them.
A pal of mine called in on Krazy Horse only recently, but I haven't been there myself yet. Sounds like a good venue for a meeting!
