When I bought my bike last week I ordered the new tempature oil dip stick and a few other things. Its been just over a week and still hasn't come in yet. Anyone out there have one. What is the highest temp have you seen.
Last summer mine would get as high as about 220 with local travel (Texas temperatures close to 100 degrees), but today (on a day ranging from about 70 to 85 degrees), it just edged below 200.
I got one a couple of months ago. About the highest I've seen so far was just under 200. But the heat wave hasn't hit yet. Although it was in the mid 80's the day I observed that reading. Mostly it has stayed down around 170, or even less in the bitter cold.
250 is boarderline and too hot for me. I'm in the Houston area, it does get hot here. Anyone here using the oil cooler. I really don't know why an oil cooler isn't standard equipment on any air cooled endgine.
I've had mine for 2 weeks now and the hottest it's been was 150. We have not had a day over 80 yet. The dealer told me to expect 250 max. 2003 XL883C stage 1.
I have to admit a temp stick tends to make me chuckle. It gives information you can do nothing about. It's not like having a thermostat that allows you to make adjustments. It's like having a wind speed instrument on a boat out at sea. Wow, the wind sure is picking up, let's turn it down!!! not
I disagree. You can dosomethingabout oil temp Oil temp can tell a lot about engine health and possible pending failure. I would be curious to see, if the gauge is accurate anyway, differences in temp when using synthetic oil, higher ocane fuel, and oil cooler.
Anyone know what these dipstick gauges cost? I asked my dealer last week to get me a price and availability for my 883 and they never called me back...guess they dont think it's importanr either!
The warmest mine has ever been was 200 , The outside temp was 95 with very high humidity. I like knowing what my oil temp is, kind of like the temp gauge in a car , if it get too hot you can pull over and let it cool..Mark...
